This page is to coordinate efforts to get more free content recordings onto Wikipedia to illustrate music topics, and other areas which would benefit from recordings. This project is mainly to gather forces to record larger works, however if shorter solo clips are needed for a page those requests are welcome as well.
The work recorded must have passed into the Public domain in order to be eligible for recording. The recording must then be released under aCommons compatible license (see Commons:Licensing for more information). Before you request a recording here, please make sure that there is not already a freely licensed recording available, checking Commons, Wikipedia:Sound/list, and other sources first.
Works should be uploaded in the Ogg or MIDI formats, and should be uploaded directly to Commons for use on other Wikimedia projects and add it to Category:Sound. For help with Ogg and MIDI, see Wikipedia:Media help.
