"If I Were a Boy" is a song recorded by American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles for her third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce(2008). It was written by Toby Gad and BC Jean, and produced by Gad and Knowles. Inspired by the bad break-up of a romantic relationship, the song was initially recorded by Jean, whose record company rejected it. Knowles then recorded her own version. Jean was upset when she learned that Knowles was releasing it as a single, but eventually they reached an agreement. "If I Were a Boy" was released by Columbia Records on October 12, 2008, as the album's lead single alongside "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", showcasing the contrast between Knowles' persona as herself and her aggressive onstage alter ego Sasha Fierce. A Spanish version of the song, titled "Si Yo Fuera un Chico", was digitally released in Mexico and Spain.
"If I Were a Boy" differs from Knowles' previous songs as it is not traditional R&B; it is a pop and folk rock introspective ballad, and itsinstrumentation is based on acoustic guitars, drums and strings. The song's lyrics are both a lament for misunderstanding between the genders and an indictment of the male side of relationships. "If I Were a Boy" was generally well received by music critics, who complimented Knowles' tormented and emotive vocal performance, and called the song her best work to date. It was a commercial success, topping the charts in over eight European countries, and peaking at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. "If I Were a Boy" peaked at number one in the United Kingdom, where it stands as Knowles' best-selling single to date. It landed in the top 10 on 25 different singles charts around the world,[1] and earned multi-platinum certifications in Canada and the United States.

"Foolish Games" is a song by Jewel released as her third/fourth and final single, taken from her debut album Pieces of You. It was also the third single to be lifted from the Batman & Robin motion picture soundtrack. Jewel re-recorded the single for the soundtrack to produce a more radio-friendly version, similar to her other singles "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "You Were Meant for Me". This versions is shorter than the album version by one verse, and also appears on the soundtrack of Batman & Robin.
The song details one's frustration and agony of knowing that one's lover does not care about them as much as they care for him. The song parallels Bruce Wayne's relationship with Julie Madison, as well as his friendship/partnership with Dick Grayson/Robin. The melodic line and chord progression of the verses in "Foolish Games" carry echoes of "Diamonds & Rust", recorded by Joan Baez.
A CD single for the song was not issued in the United States, however, a re-released version of the "You Were Meant for Me" single CD had a hidden bonus track of the single version of "Foolish Games".
"Foolish Games"/"You Were Meant for Me" ranked at number 15 on Billboard's All Time Top 100 and held the record in theGuinness Book of World Records for longest chart run of a single for "Foolish Games"/"You Were Meant for Me", which charted for 65 weeks. This record was later surpassed by "How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes in 1997 and 1998 with 69 weeks, and "I'm Yours" byJason Mraz in 2008 and 2009 with 76 weeks. Jewel was also nominated for Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performancefor this song.
